The supreme being Achāryas have been characterstics, they are judicious and discreet, knowers of all the sacred books, knowers of universe, disinterested, genius, devoid of attachment and aversion, knower of answers prior to askens of questions, capable to deal with a number of questions at one and the same time, who enfluences all, who are charming, who narrate religious narratives, who are the mines of merits and whose speech is quiet clear and sweet.
श्रुतमविकलं शुद्धा वृत्तिः परप्रतिंबोधने। परिणतिरुरुद्योगो मार्ग प्रवर्तन सिद्वधौ।। बुधनुतिरनुत्सेको, लोकज्ञता मृदुताऽस्तु यतिपतिगुणा यस्मिन्नन्ये च सोऽस्तु गुरुः सताम् ।।7।।
(श्रुतं अविकल) पूर्ण ज्ञान, (शुद्धा वृत्तिः) शुद्ध आचरण, (परं प्रतिबोधने वृत्ति) दूसरों को उपदेश देने में प्रवृत्ति, (परिणतिरुरुद्योमो मार्ग प्रवर्तन सद्विधौ) भव्य-जीवों को समीचीन मार्ग में लगाने में विशेष पुरुषार्थशील, (बुधनुतिः) विद्वानों से पूज्य, (अनुत्सेकः) मार्दव भावी, (लोकज्ञता) लोक-व्यवहार के ज्ञाता, (मृदुता) कोमलता, (अस्पृहा) निस्पृहता, (गुणा) गुण (यस्मिन्) जिनमें हैं; (यतिपति सः) वही मुनियों का स्वामी (सताम् गुरुः) सज्जनों का गुरु है (न अन्ये च) और अन्य नहीं।
Such saints alone are eligible to be the heads of orders of saints - who are knowers of all scriptures, whose conduct is pure/right, who preach appropriately, who exert for the cause of inspiring and enabling person capable to attain salvation, follow the path of salvation, worshipped by learned persons, humble and polite, knowers of public relations, tender and disinterested/detached.
विशुद्धवंशः परमाभिरूपो जितेन्द्रियोधर्मकथाप्रसक्तः। सुखर्द्धिलाभेष्वविसक्तचित्तो बुधैः सदाचार्य इति प्रशस्तः।।8।।
जो (विशुद्धवंशः) विशुद्ध वंश में उत्पन्न हुए हैं, (परमाभिरुपः) सुन्दर, सुडौल रूप के धारक हैं, (जितेन्द्रियः) इन्द्रिय-विजेता हैं, (धर्मकथाप्रसक्तः) धर्म-कथाओं के उपदेश में रत हैं, (सुख-ऋद्धि-लाभेषु-विसक्त-चित्तः) सुख, वृद्धि/ऐश्वर्य आदि के लाभों में जिनके मन में आसक्ति/इच्छा उत्पन्न नहीं होती
