હિંદી પ્રસ્તાવના અને ટિપ્પણોનો અંગ્રેજી અનુવાદ પુસ્તકાકારે (*Advanced Studies in Indian Logic and Metaphysics' નામે) ઈ.સ. ૧૯૬૧માં ઇન્ડિયન સ્ટડીઝ : પાસ્ટ અને પ્રેઝન્ટે પ્રકાશિત કરેલો. તે પુસ્તકના સંપાદક ડૉ. દેવીપ્રસાદ ચટ્ટોપાધ્યાય પોતાની સંપાદકીય નોંધમાં લખે છે : “...એવી વિદ્વત્તા કે જે જેટલી પારગામી અન્ય કોઈ પણ પ્રાચીન વિદ્યાની શાખામાં છે તેટલી જ પારગામી તત્ત્વજ્ઞાનમાં છે તેનું વિરલ દૃષ્ટાન્ત તે (પંડિતજી) છે. વળી, તેમનામાં આપણને જ્ઞાનકોશ જેવું સર્વગ્રાહી મન મળે છે – જો કે તે મન પ્રધાનપણે વિદ્વત્તાની પરંપરાગત પ્રણાલીને સમર્પિત છે અને આ વસ્તુએ પ્રમાણમીમાંસાના તેમના સંપાદનને અત્યંત અમૂલ્ય બનાવી દીધું છે. વિશેષતઃ તો મૂળ સંસ્કૃત સંપાદન સાથે જોડેલાં તેમણે લખેલાં ટિપ્પણો ભારતીય તત્ત્વજ્ઞાનને લગતી સામગ્રીની સમૃદ્ધિથી એટલાં ભરેલાં છે કે તેની બરાબરી કરી શકે તેવું લખાણ ભારતના કે પરદેશના આધુનિક વિદ્વાનોનાં લખાણોમાં મળવું દુર્લભ છે.”
પ્રસ્તાવનામાં પંડિતજીએ ગાગરમાં સાગર ભરી દીધો છે. સમગ્ર ભારતીય ચિન્તનને સમજવાની એક અદ્ભુત ચાવી પંડિતજીએ આપી છે. વિવિધ ભારતીય દર્શનો બે મૂળભૂત દષ્ટિઓનો – સામાન્યગામિની (અભેદગામિની) અને વિશેષગામિની (ભદગામિની)નો જ વિસ્તાર છે. જૈનો આ બે દષ્ટિઓને દ્રવ્યાર્થિક દષ્ટિ અને પર્યાયાર્થિક દૃષ્ટિ કહે છે. સામાન્યગામિની દષ્ટિસમન્વયની પદ્ધતિ (method of synthesis)નો આશરો લે છે અને વિશેષગામિની દષ્ટિ વિશ્લેષણની પદ્ધતિ (method of analysis)નો આશરો લે છે. આત્મત્તિક સમન્વય એકતત્ત્વવાદ (બ્રહ્મવાદ), કૂટસ્થનિત્યવાદ, કાર્યકારણઅમેદવાદ (સત્કાર્યવાદ) આદિ ભણી લઈ જાય છે જ્યારે
