Language, Style and Literary Assessment
The language of the गाहा, रथोद्धता, सिलोग is Prakrit. that of घात. षट्पद, अडिल्ला, मडिल्ल भुंजगप्रयात, कुंडलिया is Apabhramśa. That of the दूहा, afe is Old Gujarati. Bur there is generally some admixture in most of the cases. Because of the influence of the प्राकृत पैंगल, some forms of the Old Braja also can be seen.
Due to the long coverage given to the topic of Sadṛtuvarnana (vv. 13-47) the SSR. clearly shows that its model was the earlier Rāsaka works like the Samdeśarāsaka. It was a very favourite topic in the Medieval regional languages also (e.g. in the Kavya of Early Hindi, माधवानलः कामकंदला - प्रबंध etc.). In the description of the seasons in SSR. consderable scope is given to the seasonal change in the general day-to-day life of the people and especially to the change in the fooditems suitable to cach season.
