Red, white, yellow and blue/black coloured lines respectively will bring happiness, prosperity and satisfaction for the Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisya and Sudra castes. (97). लिङ्ग का रेखा करने का प्रकार---
पूजायामे कलांशे तु लिङ्गं चिह्न दशांशकैः । पीठस्योर्ध्वद्विभागेन रेखा कार्या प्रदक्षिणे ॥ ९८ ॥
लिङ्ग की लंबाई का सोलहवां भाग करना, उसमें से दसवां भाग प्रमाण का लिङ्ग चिह्न पूजा का समझना। पीठ के ऊपर दो भाग से प्रदक्षिण क्रम से चारों ओर रेखा करना। . .
The auspicious positioning for marks on a Siva-linga which are worthy of worship is as follows :- if the height of a linga is divided into sixteen parts, the tenth part is where symbols appropriate for veneration should occur.
Using as a measure two parts (of the linga) rising above the peeth an encircling line should be drawn, following in the direction of circumambulation (pradakshina). (98).
लिङ्ग का शिर वर्णन
छत्राभमष्टमांशे तु सार्द्धद्व्यंशे षडंशके। त्रपुषाभं विस्तरार्धे कुक्कुटाण्डं शिरो मतम् ॥ ९९ ॥ त्रिभागे लिङ्गविस्तारे चैकांशेनार्द्धचन्द्रकम् । सार्द्धत्र्यंशेन तुल्यं स्यादष्टांशे बुद्दाकृतिः ॥ १०० ॥
तीन भाग किये हुए शिवलिङ्ग के ऊपर की शिला है जैसा पहले कह चुके हैं। दूसरी शिव भाग की शिला का तीन भाग करके ऊपर का नाम शिर समझना, यह जैसा होना चाहिए, वह है। इस शिवलिङ्ग का आठ भाग करके ढाई भाग छत्र के जैसा, छ भाग करके यह भाग त्रपुष की आभा जैसा लिङ्ग
