to come out. Thereafter with the stick he beats the drum with great force, standing at the centre of that building. Please tell me whether the sound (of beating of the drum) will come out or not. In other words from outside can one hear the beating of the drum or not."
Pradeshi replied – “Reverend Sir ! It comes out.”
Keshi Kumar Shraman said-"O Pradeshi! Has any hole or hair-line appeared through which the sound has come out?"
King Pradeshi said "Sir! There is no hole through which the sound has come out."
Keshi Kumar Shraman said--"O Pradeshi ! Similarly Jiva (soul) also has a movement that cannot be stopped by any substance. It does not stop any where. It passes through the earth, the heavy stone (shila), the hills, the mountains. So you should have firm belief that soul and body are separate entities. Soul is not body and body is not soul.”
लोहकुंभी का उदाहरण
२५०. तए णं पएसी राया केसि कुमारसमणं एवं वयासी
अत्थि णं भंते ! एस पण्णा उवमा, इमेणं पुण कारणेणं णो उवागच्छइ, एवं खलु भंते! अहं अन्नया कयाइ बाहिरियाए उवट्ठाणसालाए जाव विहरामि तए णं ममं णगरगुत्तिया ससक्खं जाव उवणेंति, तए णं अहं (तं ) पुरिसं जीवियाओ ववरोवेमि, जीवियाओ वववेत्ता अयोकुंभीए पक्खिवावेमि, अउमएणं पिहावेमि जाव पच्चइएहिं पुरिसेहिं रक्खामि ।
तए णं अहं अन्नया कयाई जेणेव सा कुंभी तेणेव उवागच्छामि, तं अउकुंभिं उग्गलच्छावेमि, तं अउकुंभिं किमिकुंभिं पिव पासामि । णो चेव णं तीसे अउकुंभीए के छिड्डे इ वा जाव राई वा जहा णं ते जीवा बहियाहिंतो अणुपविट्ठा, जति णं तीसे अकुंभी होज्ज केइ छिड्डे इ वा जाव अणुपविट्ठा, तेणं अहं सद्दहेजा जहा - अन्नो जीवो तं चेव, जम्हा णं तीसे अउकुंभीए नत्थि केइ छिड्डे इ वा जाव अणुपविट्ठा तम्हा सुपतिट्ठि मे पइण्णा जहा - तं जीवो तं सरीरं तं चेव ।
२५०. केशीकुमार श्रमण का उत्तर सुनकर प्रदेशी राजा ने पुनः इस प्रकार तर्क उपस्थित किया
