Thus young maids of many countries shall look after him. Further that child shall remain surrounded by many eunuchs and those looking after the domestic affairs of the palace. The servants male and female shall be handling him with care while passing from one attendant to the other in their hands, while shifting him from one lap to the other They shall sing nursery songs, play childlike games, keeping him happy and enjoying such things. They shall narrate music that could help him in coming to sleep They shall kiss him with affection and move him in beautiful gem-studded courtyard. Thus that baby state shall develop in a well-guarded enjoyable environment with the passage of time like a grand Champak tree in the cave of hill away from the ferocity of dreadful winds

२८२. (क) तए णं तं दढपइण्णं दारगं अम्मापियरो सातिरेग अट्ठवासजायगं जाणित्ता सोभणंसि तिहि-करण - णक्खत्त - मुहुत्तंसि ण्हायं कयबलिकम्मं कयकोउय- मंगलपायच्छित्तं सव्वालंकारविभूसियं करेत्ता महया इडीसक्कारसमुदएणं कलायरियस्स उवणेहिंति ।
तए णं से कलायरिए तं दढपइण्णं दारगं लेहाइयाओ गणियप्पहाणाओ सउणरुयपज्जवसाणाओ बावन्तरि कलाओ सुत्तओ अत्थओ य गंथओ य करणओ य सेहावेहि य पसिक्खावेहि य ।
२८२. (क) दृढप्रतिज्ञ बालक जब कुछ अधिक आठ वर्ष का हो जायेगा तब कला-शिक्षण के लिए माता-पिता शुभ तिथि, करण (लग्न), नक्षत्र और मुहूर्त्त मे स्नान, बलिकर्म, कौतुक - मगल- प्रायश्चित्त कराके और अलंकारों से विभूषित कर ऋद्धि-वैभव, सत्कार, समारोहपूर्वक कलाचार्य के पास ले जायेंगे।
तब कलाचार्य उस दृढप्रतिज्ञ बालक को गणित जिनमें मुख्य रहता है ऐसी लेख (लिपि) आदि शकुनिरुत (पक्षियो की बोली ) तक की बहत्तर कलाओ को सूत्र से, अर्थ से (विस्तार से व्याख्या करके), ग्रन्थ के अनुसार सूत्र और अर्थ के अनुसार तथा करण - प्रयोग से अभ्यास करायेंगे।
