(e) Then the other companions tried hard to bring him round. 9 They explained the benefits of the proposal and loss in not agreeing
to it. But when they did not succeed in their efforts, they went ahead. Thereafter on the way, they found copper mine, silver mine, gold mine, mine of gems and the mine of diamonds in that very order. Whenever they found a mine of higher value substance, than the one they were carrying, they discarded their load and carried the more beneficial one. (At all such places they tried to bring round their companion to accept their advice but he did not agree.)
After crossing the forest, they came to their country and then to their town. They sold the diamonds. They got a big amount in exchange. They bought many servants, cows, buffaloes, sheep and other. They got built eight storeyed buildings. Then after their bath and other suchlike, they used to sit at the top floors of their palatial buildings and enjoy music and thirty two types of dances coupled with music performed by the damsels. They were enjoying sensual pleasures fully satisfying their all the five senses namely pleasant words, pleasant sights, pleasant touch, pleasant smell.
(च) तए णं ते पुरिसे अयभारेण जेणेव सए नगरे तेणेव उवागच्छइ, अयभारेणं गहाय अयविक्किणणं करेति, तंसि अप्पमोल्लंसि निहियंसि झीणपरिव्बए, ते पुरिसे उप्पिं पासायवरगए जाव विहरमाणे पासति, पासित्ता एवं वयासी-अहो ! णं अहं अधन्नो अपुनो अकयत्थो अकयलक्खणो हिरि-सिरि-वजिए हीणपुण्णचाउद्दसे दुरंतपंतलक्खणे। जइ
णं अहं मित्ताण वा णाईण वा नियगाण वा सणेतओ तो णं अहं पि एवं चेव उप्पिं * पासायवरगए जाव विहरंतो।
से तेणट्टेणं पएसी, एवं वुच्चइ-मा तुमं पएसी ! पच्छाणुताविए भविजासि, जहा व 7 से पुरिसे अयभारिए।
(च) वह लोहवाहक पुरुष भी अपना लोहभार लेकर नगर में आया। वहाँ आकर उस लोहे को बेचा, किन्तु अल्प मूल्य वाला होने से उसे थोडा-सा धन मिला। किसी समय (नगर 6 में फिरते हुए) जब उस पुरुष ने अपने साथियों को श्रेष्ठ प्रासादो के ऊपर रहते हुए यावत्
भोग-विलास मे समय बिताते हुए देखा। तब इस प्रकार सोचने-विचारने लगा-'अरे ! मैं अधन्य, पुण्यहीन (भाग्यहीन), अकृतार्थ, शुभ लक्षणों से रहित, श्री-ह्री (धन और प्रभाव) रायपसेणियसूत्र
