caused by child-birth. Thereafter they shall get prepared food, @** To liquids, sweets, fragrant material in large quantity. They shall then be
invite friends, relatives, members of their brotherhood, distanta en relations, servants, employees and acquaintances. Thereafter they
shall take bath, decorate themselves with auspicious symbols, forehead mark and ornaments. They shall then take their meals in the dining hall in the company of friends, relations including all the invitees. They shall offer items of consumption to each other. After taking the food and cleaning the mouth and becoming spotless, they shall give clothes, fragrant, substances, garlands, decorations to the friends, relatives and the invitees as a taken of respect. Thereafter, they shall address them as under
(ग) जम्हा णं देवाणुप्पिया ! इमंसि दारगंसि गब्भगयंसि चेव समाणंसि धम्मे दढा पइणा जाया, तं होउ णं अम्हं एयस्स दारयस्स दढपइण्णे णामेणं। तए णं तस्स दढपइण्णस्स दारगस्स अम्मापियरो नामधेनं करिस्संति-दढपइण्णो य दढपइण्णो य।।
तए णं तस्स अम्मापियरो आणुपुब्वेणं ठितिवडियं च चंदसूरियदरिसणं च धम्मजागरियं ॐच नामधिजकरणं च पजेमणगं च पडिवद्धावणगं च पचंकमणगं च कनवेहणं च
संवच्छरपडिलेहणगं च चूलोवणयं च अन्नाणि य बहूणि गब्भाहाण-जम्मणाइयाइं महया इट्ठीसक्कारसमुदएणं करिस्संति।
(ग) देवानुप्रियो ! जब से यह दारक माता की कुक्षि में गर्भरूप से आया था तभी से हमारी धर्म में दृढ श्रद्धा, प्रतिज्ञा हुई है, धर्म के प्रति प्रीति और रुचि बढी है, इसलिए हमारे * इस बालक का नाम ‘दृढप्रतिज्ञ' हो। इस तरह उस दारक के माता-पिता 'दृढ़प्रतिज्ञ' * नामकरण करेंगे।
___ इस प्रकार से उसके माता-पिता अनुक्रम से (१) स्थितिपतिता, (२) चन्द्र-सूर्यदर्शन, 6 (३) धर्म-जागरण, (४) नामकरण, (५) अन्नप्राशन (अन्न चटाना), (६) प्रतिवर्धापन 6 (आशीर्वाद समारोह), (७) प्रचंक्रमण (पैरों चलना-डग भरना और शब्दोच्चारण करना),
(८) कर्णवेधन (कान छेदना), (९) संवत्सर प्रतिलेख (प्रथम वर्ष का जन्मोत्सव-पहला * जन्म-दिन), और (१०) चूलोपनयन (मुंडनोत्सव-झडूला उतारना) आदि। अन्य दूसरे भी * बहुत से गर्भाधान, जन्म आदि से सम्बन्धित उत्सव अति भव्य समारोह के साथ करेगे।।
