________________ ATMA VALLABH SANSKRIT MANDIR 21 Bhagwan Mahavira more than 2500 years ago and which are more relevant even today, to tide over the present complexities of life. A Selfless Humanist with Divine Powers Acharyashree served humanity with undiminished zeal and devotion. He was endowed with simplicity and His life was a saga of self-abnegation, austerity and sacrifice. He always avoided self-praise and never allowed his own name to be associated with any of the institutions sponsored and established at His instance. To him, equanimity was very sacrosanct. Suo-moto, at many occasions, He made offers to work with his contemporaries on the same plane and in unison, without any reservations whatsoever. It is believed that he was gifted with certain divine powers as well. His kind blessings brought relief to many in their distress and ailment. There are instances when even the clinically dead were revived. At the time of exit from Gujranwala town, soon after the partition of India, when Acharyashree and the caravan of devotees were surrounded by a large armed mob, his two minutes meditation, resulted in the appearance of a small military convoy on the scene, all of a sudden, as if from nowhere, ensuring safety of the emigrants. His divine power worked wonders in all critical situations. His Mission Acharyashree was one such celebrated spiritual apostle who radiated consciousness with his divine preachings. He gave a clarion call to all Jains to work unitedly under the banner of Bhagwan Mahavira and inspired them to undertake the noble tasks set before them for amelioration of the distress of society as also for the renaissance of ancient Jain values. He advocated the establishment of a Jain University for the purpose. Acharyashree had in fact made Shiksha (Education), Seva (Service), Sangathan (Unity), Sahitya (Literature) and Swalamban (Self-reliance) as his creed and mission of life. The society as a whole shall remain ever indebted unto him for His multifaceted rich contribution. Memorial (Smarak) Mooted Acharyashree breathed His last in 1954 at Bombay at the ripe age of 84 years passing on the authority to Acharyashree Vijayasamudrasuriji Maharaj. Hundreds of thousands of people, from all over the country joined the funeral and in fulfilment of their sentiments, a Samadhi has since been raised at the cremation site within the precincts of Adishwer Jain Temple at Byculla, Bombay. It was nothing less than a miracle that an Indra Dhanush (Rainbow) in its seven splendid colours, also appeared on the horizon as a celestial garland on the occasion.
