શક જાતિનું મૂળ. યુઇશિકા કાફલે બહુ મટે હતો. બૈરા, છોકરાં ઢોર ઢાંખર ઉપરાંત એકથી બે લાખ તીરકામઠાંવાળા લડવૈયા હતા. બધા મળીને પાંચ લાખથી દસ લાખની સંખ્યામાં હશે. આવડી મોટી જનસંખ્યાના વાસને માટે બહુ વિશાળ પ્રદેશ જોઈએ. તે લેકે આ પ્રદેશ શોધતાં શોધતાં તકલા-મકાનવાળા પ્રદેશમાંથી પસાર થઈ ટેકેસ અને કેન્સેસ ઉપનદીઓ જેને મળે છે તે ઈલી ( Ili ) નદીના કાંઠા ઉપર કુલજા પ્રદેશમાં આવી પહોંચ્યા.
એ પ્રદેશમાં “વું-સુન' નામની એક જાતિ રહેતી હતી. તે સંખ્યામાં નાની હતી છતાં પરાક્રમી વીર્યવાળી ને તેજસ્વી હતી. તેમનામાં તો કેવળ દસેક હજારજ લડયા હતા.

Cambridge History of India Vol. 1. P. 565. ચીનની મેટી દીવાલ અને પહાડો વચ્ચેનો પ્રદેશ કાનસૂ પ્રાંત તરીકે ઓળખાય છે. ત્યાં એક જાતિ વસતી હતી જેને ચીનના એતિહાસિક પુરૂષો યુઈશિ કહેતા હતા. તેમને ઇ. પૂ. ૧૬૫ માં હણ લોકોએ હુમલો કરી પરાજિત કર્યા ત્યારે તેઓ તે દેશમાંથી ચાલ્યા ગયા.

The Early History of India. P. 263. યુઇશિ લોક–જે કાન સૂ પ્રદેશમાંથી ગયા હતા તેને કાફલે બહુ મોટો હતો. તીરકામઠાવાળી સેનાનાં જ લગભગ એક લાખથી બે લાખ માણસો હશે, બાકી નાનાથી મોટા અને સ્ત્રીપુરૂષ વિગેરે સૈ મળીને જે ગણત્રી કરવામાં આવે તે લગભગ પાંચથી દસ લાખની સંખ્યા થાય.
“અલી હીસ્ટ્રી.” * આ પ્રદેશ તિબ્બતની ઉત્તર તરફ અને સિમકિયાંની પશ્ચિમમાં નેતનની બરાબર નીચે આસપાસ આવેલ છે. જ્યાં યુઇશિ લેકે સૈથી પ્રથમ રહેતા હતા.
