શક જાતિનું મૂળ. પોતાના સાથીઓને વેર વિખેર કરી નાખ્યા. કેઈ ટી ટેળીઓ તેણે સાથે રાખી નહી. સે લકે બધા અહીં તહીં વિખરાઈ ગયા. કેટલાક બાકીયા તરફ ગયા અને ઐ-વાં *કિપિન-કપિશ–નામના દેશમાં ચાલ્યા ગયે. કિપિન-કપિશ કેટલાક વિદ્વાને કાશમીરને ગણાવે છે. કેટલાક વિદ્વાનો કંબોજના ભાગને ગણાવે છે. પણ કંબોજને કપિશ કહે એ વધારે વાસ્તવિક છે.
આ સે લેકાના ત્રણ ખાસ ભેદ છે. તે ત્રણેના મોટાં મોટાં સંસ્થાને હતાં, ને તેમને ત્રણેને જુદા જુદા નામથી ઓળખાવવામાં આવતા.
(૧) સકા કતિગ્રખેદા–અર્થાત અણિદાર ટોપી પહેરવાવાળા આ લેકો સીરદરયાનદીને કાંઠે રહેતા અને પાડોશના બાકટીયાના સૈનિકે સાથે જોડાઈને લશ્કરી કામ પણ કરતા હતા.
* S. Levi identifies kipin with Kasmira. But his view has been ably controverted by Sten konou who accepts the identification with Kapisha. Gandhār was the eastern part of Kipin. Political History P. 293.
By Raychaudhari છે. સિલવન લેવી કાશમીર દેશને કિપિન દેશ જણાવે છે. જ્યારે ડો. સ્ટીન કોને બહુ પ્રમાણ પૂર્વક તેમનાથી જાદા પડી કપિશ દેશને કિપિન તરીકે ઓળખાવે છે. વળી ગધાર એ કિપિનનાં પૂર્વીય ભાગ હતું એમ પણ કહે છે.
રાયચૈધરી. * In the Persepolis insoription e 2 the Sakas are mentioned among the eastern countries, after Arachosia, India, and Gandhára, and before the Makas.
: In the Naksh-i-Rustam inscription a 3 we have another enumeration : Media, susiana, Parthia, Aria, Bactria, Sogdiana, Khorasmia, Zranka, Arachosia, the Thatagush, gandhára, India, Saka Haumavarka, Saka Tigrakhaudā, Babylon, Assyria, Arabia, Egypt, Cappadocia, Sparda, Ionia, Sakā tyaiy taradraya ( or paradraya ), Skudra, the Takabarı Ionians, Puntians, Kushians, Maxyes and Karkians.
From these enumerations we can hardly draw any other inference than that there were several Saka tribes, and that they all belonged to the eastern parts of the Empire.
