પુસ્તકો રચાવવા માટે મળેલાં ફંડ અને બક્ષીસ રમે,
“ સેક્રેટરી સાહેબ તરફે લખ્યુંલેટરમાં, આપના આસિસ્ટંટે જે વાત મુજને કરી; તે સુણીને ખરેખર ખૂબ ખુશી થયા છું હું, રકમ તે આપીશ અઢી હજારની ખરી; તેના વ્યાજમાંથી દર સાલ સા રૂપૈયા તણેા, નિબંધ રચાવો ઇનામ આગળે ધરી; બારમી એપ્રિલે લેખ લખી આપ્યા એવી રીતે,
ધન્ય શેઠ સારાબજી ઉદારતા આદરી. '

આપણે પાછળ જોઈ ગયા છીએ કે સોસાઇટીએ વિધ વિધ પ્રકારની પ્રવૃત્તિએ એકી સાથે ઉપાડી લીધાથી તેની પાસે નવાં આર્ભથી પુરતું નાણું ફાજલ પડતું નહિ, અને તેને ભીડમાં રહેતા હતા; પણ જેમ સવા મળતી ગઇ તેમ પ્રવૃત્તિમાંથી મુક્ત થતી ચાલી અને પછી તે પુસ્તક વિશેષ લક્ષ આપવા માંડયું હતું.
