SAHRDAYĀLOKA These lines do not differ much from Bhoja but the next six lines are not at all read in Bhoja. They are -
lāsyánga-sandhi-niyamo
bhāņavad evátra bhāņikāyām syāt. i.e. In bhāņikā also, as in bhāņa, there are lasyảngas and sandhis. Šā. observes further that in bhānikā, the principal rasa is śrngāra, and heroine is covered up in beautiful dress. Without garbha and avamaría, the three sandhis viz. mukha, pratimukha and nirvahana are seen in bhānikā. Its theme is short (svalpa-vrtta). The characters are vita, and pītha-marda along with vidūsaka. There are ten lāsyas in it. (i.e. lāsyangas). It is graced by pāñcālī-rīti. The illustration is 'Viņāyati. The verses read as -
"atha bhāny angi-śệngārā ślakṣṇa-naipathya-nāyikā garbhávamarśa-hīnā ca mukhā”di-traya-bhūșitā. svalpa-výtta-prabandhā ca pīķha-marda-viţánvitā viduşakena sahită daśa-lāsya-samanvitā
bhaved vīņāvatī yathā.” (pp. 384, ibid) The NLRK. has both bhāņikā and bhānī.
Bhānī is briefly described (pp. 302, ibid), which seems to be the shortest summary of śā.'s bhānikā. The illustration is also identical. The NLRK reads as - atha bhāņi. ekánkā, vita-vidūşaka-pīrhamarda-sobhitā śộngāra-rasā, svalpa-citrakāvyā, daśa-lāsyanga-sobhitā. yathā vīņavatī.
Bhānikā in NLRK. again shares some features of bhāna-bhānikā as seen in Bhoja and Śā. But we fail to understand why bhāņikā and bhāņi are mentioned as separate varieties. Normally, bhāna and bhānikā are mentioned separately but bhāņi and bhānikā are not. NLRK. describes bhānikā as (pp. 300, ibid) :
atha bhāņikā. udātta-nāyikā, suksma-nepathya-bhūṣitā (we have ślaksna in Bhoja/śā.), ekánkā. kaisiki-bhārati-vrtti-pradhānā, manda-puruşă ca. yathā kāmadattā.
Then seven angas of bhāņikā are described such as - asyāḥ saptángānivinyāsaḥ, upanyāsaḥ, virodhaḥ, anuvšttiḥ, sādhvasam, samarpanam, samhāraś ceti.
