________________ xxi) we may compare Nāgoji Bhatta's Paribhāşendu-Sekhara 28 : kịt grahane gatikaraka-parvasyāpi grahaņam. 8 (vi) In Sūtras 388,396 we have the use of Karmani Ktaḥ to indicate the use of augment ‘ta', the past-passive participle termination, to signify the object of the action indicated by the verb. We may compare this with Paņini iii. 4.71 : Adi-karmani ktaḥ kartari ca. (vii) The author, in his comment on Sūtra 271, Karayeran padadhavanikam, says :-Kamakaro aira, na niyamaḥ iti sandarśanartham adau kriyapadasya prayogaḥ. In his comment on Sūtra 586 Kathanam bhikṣunyāntaritam etc., the author remarks: Tasmat Kamacāra-vijñānārtham adau kriyapada-prayogah.' In both these places the use of words showing an action at the beginning of the Sūtra suggests an optional action and not a prescriptive rule. (viii) In his comment on Sūtra No. 82, he proceeds : ekat na pañcaśat iti ‘Āť-sandhiḥ. We may consider Pani. 6.3.76, Siddhanta 812, Candra 5.2.94, Sara. Kantha 6.2.114. ŚāradaPañcana Räy in his comment on Siddha. 811-12 says : eka takes the augment adúk or aduk and we get ekād- Āgamas tu aduk iti Výttikaraḥ, aduk iti Haradattaḥ. See also ekan na vimśatiḥ in Abhk-Bhaşya on Page 179 (Cm. on Abhk. iii. 91) As some other pecularities of the author, we may also note the following : (i) The author in the comment on Sūtra 95 remarks that to rebut, the arguments of the opponents, it may be necessary to study the sciences of their schools. There is no harm if one studies them or fails to study them. (Paravādinigrahārtham bahiś śāstrāņi addhyeyāni ity adi. Atra karane akarane ca na kaścid a patti doşaḥ). 8. Also see P.
