Niyayasahāveņa hayā tāvada
bhavvā na moium sakka |
Bhavadukkhão ime puna
bhavvā parimoyaṇīya || 54 ||
Nijakasvabhāvena hatäh,
tāvadabhavyāḥ na mocayitum śakyāḥ | Bhavaduḥkhāt ime punar
bhavyāḥ parimocanīyāstu /54 ||
Sullied by their own nature
unliberatables are the ‘Abhavya' souls Liberatable are the unsullied ones,
called the 'Bhavya' souls || 54 ||
54. It is not possible to liberate (free) the (permanently sullied) 'Abhavya' or the unliberatable souls that have been hurt (sullied) by their ineligibility for liberation. However, it is possible to liberate the ‘Bhavya' souls that possess the eligibiliy for liberation. Therefore, all efforts must be made to liberate them from the miseries of the world. (In practice, however, it is not possible to distinguish one type from the other and the rightly inclined souls tries to mitigagte the misery of one and all.)
