71. Delivering discourses on and explaining state-craft and political philosophies propounded by Caņakya or Kamandaka or that contained in Pascatantra, etc is not considered to be an act of compassion towards six categories of living beings because state-craft includes measures like deception, breaking mutual friendships, telling lies, conducting declared and undeclared wars, etc. Thus, involving gross violence, it is essentially an act of violence and not of compassion. Therefore, Jaina ascetics are forbidden from discoursing on politics and related subjects.
