II (b) Deed Philosophy.
In Jain vocabulary good-deed is 'Punnya' and baddeed is 'Paapa'. Each 'Aaattmaa' has own balancesheet like record showing the burden of good-deeds and bad-deeds. Even when 'Aattmaa' attains any new body fo[mE 'Aatmaa' has its past deed-records. Normally good-deed is giving comforts proportionate to the acquired collection. Bad-deed is giving discomfort proportionate to the acquired collection. When a gooddeed or a bad-deed is performed, resultant comfort or discomfort may result after a short time or after a time-lag of several incarnations. For the mild baddeeds the time lag before resultant discomfort allows the 'Aaattmaa' to make amends by 'Nirjaraa'. which can cut down the extent of bad-deed result. 'Nirjaraa' can be done by (i) Ttapashyaa' - penance, (ii) 'KshamaaYaachanaa' - asking pardon from one's bottom of heart, at. al. This can do entire wipe-out or a partial wipe-out, resulting in no discomfort or milder discomfort This effect can be obtained in the time-lag before maturing of resultant discom-fort. Such 'Paapa-Karma' is known as 'Aaghaatti-Karma'. (ii) 'Ghatti-Karma' which is severe in nature and results in the severe discomfort, when maturing suffering results, giving no chance to
