अहह ! पान्थ न जीवति ते प्रिया
नभसि मासि.न यासि गृहं यदि ॥' For Balâkâu (cranes ) occuring in the rainy season Cf.
'गर्भाधानक्षणपरिचयानूनमाबद्धमालाः सेविष्यन्ते नयनसुभगं खे भवन्तं बलाकाः।'
Meghaduta. [क्षारं क्षते०]–क्षते क्षार has become proberbial and means to ag. gravate the pain which is already unbearable,' 'to make bad worse', 'to add insult to injury!' 'क्षते क्षारमिवासघं जातं तस्यैव दर्शनम् ।'
Uttara C. IV. 7. or 'क्षते प्रहारा निपतन्त्य भीक्ष्णम्'
Subhâ. R. 294. P. 142. L. 17-18 (Verse 19). The sky is assuming the stature of an intoxicated elephant, the cranes supplying the white turban and lightning waving the chowrie. अनुष्टुप् वृत्तं, रूपकालङ्कारः.-[बलाका०] -बलाका एव पाण्डुरं श्वेतोष्णीषम्.-[विद्यु०]-विद्युदेवोत्क्षिप्तं चामरं यत्र. Cf.
'हसतीव बलाकाभिर्नृत्यतीव तडिद्भुजैः । रोदितीवाम्बुधाराभिरुन्मत्तकमिवाम्बरम्'।
Subhâshitâvali 1725. __P. 142. L. 20-23 (Verse 20). The sky is darkened as the . clouds, gloomy like the wet tamâla leaves, have swallowed up the Sun thereof. The ant-hills, being smitten by the torrents, sink down like the elephants pierced with the arrows. The streak of lightning appears to be a golden lamp gleaning on the top of the mansion. The moonlight like the consort of a humble lord is forcibly snatched up by the clouds. मेघेषु हठकामुकत्वारोपः.-[आपीत०] आपीतः आच्छादितः सूर्यो यस्य-In which the Sun is eclipsed totally. उपमालङ्कारः, Metre शार्दूलविक्रीडितम्. ____P. 143. L. 2-5 (Verse 21). These clouds, with string of lightn. ing tied round their cinctures, dashing against each other, as it were, like the elephants, and shedding torrents of rain, being commanded by Indra, lift up the earth by means of silver chains as it . were.-[अभिद्रु]-To assail.-[विद्युद्]-विद्युदेव गुणः तेन बद्धाः कक्षामध्य भागाः येषां. अत्राप्युत्प्रेक्षैव वाच्या. इन्द्रोपेन्द्रवज्रयोः संमेलनादुपजातिवृत्तम्.
