Manner of prostitutes. [शौण्डीर्य.] Pride. Metre अनुष्टुप्. ___P. 199. L. 8. I have already asked you, dear lady! to regard the lovely and obnoxious as equable. Vide I. 31. ___P. 199. L. 17. [धुर्याणाम्.] Of the oxen. 'धूर्वहे धुर्यधौरेयधुरीणाः स. धुरन्धराः' इत्यमरः (धुरं वहति यत्-४४७७). Cf. 'येनेदं भियते विश्वं धुर्यानमिवाध्वनि'-Kumar VI.76.
P. 200. L. 5. [दुष्करं विषमौषधीकर्तुं] It is very dificult to reduce poison to medicament. Cf.
"न विषममृतीकर्तुं शक्यं प्रयत्नशतैरपि त्यजति कटुतां न स्वां निम्बः स्थितोऽपि पयोहदे । गुणपरिचितामार्या वाणी न जल्पति दुर्जन
श्चिरमपि बलाध्माते लोहे कुतः कनकाकृतिः" ॥ also cf.----
"दुर्जनः सुजनीकर्तुं यत्नेनापि न शक्यते । संस्कारेणापि लशुनं कः सुगन्धीकरिष्यति" ॥
Subhâshitâvali. P. 200. L. 16. [अत्तिके &c.] The blockhead calls Vasantasena his mother-a good epithet for a concubine !!
P. 201. L. 1-4 (Verse 18). I fall on your feet long.eyed one! and couple hands, O beauteous teethed lady, having ter nails ! Kindly forgive my faults that Cupid urged me to commit. Please rest assured, beautiful one, I am your humble slave. Supply बध्नामि after हस्ताञ्जलिम्.-[आतुरः]. Influenced or affected by. आतोतोर्ति 'तुर त्वरणे' ह्वादिः. "छान्दसा अपि क्वचिद्भाषायां प्रयुज्यन्ते" (ef. yaska II. 1. 2.) इगुएध इति कः (३।१।१३४).* Bhanuji Dikshita in his Vyakhasudha p. 368, Bombay Edition; or अत् + उरच् उण ११४१-धातोरादौ दीर्घः अतति निरन्तरं गच्छति. वसन्ततिलक metre.
