P. 143. L. 7–10 (Verse 22). The clouds, dark like the herd of the buffaloes and inflated by the stormy wind and moving in the atmosphere like the seas by their wings of lightning, pierce with their showers as if with diamond-darts, the earth clothed in fresh verdure of sprouts and exhaling great smell.-[गन्धोद्दामा.]-तीव्रगन्धयुक्ता-shedding abundant odours.-[धरा.] Earth. 'धरा धरित्री धरणः' अमरः, धरा, धारा०-अनुप्रासः. शर्भिद्यत इव उत्प्रेक्षा. शिखरिणीच्छन्दः (य, म, न, स, भ, ल, ग.).
P. 143. L. 12-15 (Verse 23). Hailed loudly by the peacocks with their shrill cries (lit. called upon with the words come hither), hurriedly and longingly caressed by the cranes and anxiously looked at by the swans disdaining lotuses, yonder rises the cloud darkening all the quarters as if with collirium. [एह्येहीति.] Peacocks are imagined to cry 'एहि एहीति'-come, come.[sisterao]. The cranes fly towards him to embrace suddenly and delightfully.-गौत्पत्तिहेतुत्वात् बलाकयालिङ्गितः-तथा चोक्तं 'गर्भ बलाका दधतेऽभ्रयोगान्नाके निबद्धावलयः समन्तात्.'-[मेचकाः] Dark-blue. 'मेचकः श्यामले कृष्णे तिमिरे बर्हिचन्द्रके' इति हैमः-मच् + वुञ् (५।३५)+ इत्वे (५।३७) गुणः७।३।८६.
-[केका]-'केकावाणी मयूरस्य'-इत्यमरः. के मूर्धनि कायते, कै शब्दे अन्येभ्योऽपि दृश्यते (३।२।१०१) इति डः, हलदन्तात्-६।३।९ इत्यलुक्. The cry of a peacock. उत्प्रेक्षालङ्कारः, शार्दूलविक्रीडितं वृत्तम्.
P. 143. L. 17-20 (Verse 24). See, the world is now slumbering, as it were, profoundly-its eyes in the form of multitude of lotuses are closed and motionless, in it the distinction between day and night is completely gone, the darkness is seen at intervals through gleams of lightning, the countenance of heaven is close concealed, it is lying within the chamber made by the torrents and is furnished with the covering of umbrellas in the shape of multitudinous clouds (roaming) in the wide expanse of the atmospheric regions.-[निष्पन्दीकृत०]-निष्पन्दानि निश्चेष्टानि पद्मषण्डानि कमलवनान्येव नयनानि यस्य तत्.-[षण्डम् --multitude. षण्डं पद्मादिसंघाते न स्त्री स्याद्गोपतौ पुमान्' 'पण्डः समूहे' इति सारस्वतकोषः.-[पयोधारा०]-पयोधारा जलधारा एव गृहं तस्यान्तर्गतं मध्यवर्ती.- [स्फीता०] स्फीते दीर्घायमाणे अम्बोधराणां मेघानां धामनि व्योग्नि नैकाश्च ते जलदा मेघसमूहाः त एव छत्रं यस्य तत्.-[अपिधानं.] NCovering. 'अपिधानं तिरोधानपिधानाच्छादनानि च' इत्यमरः. Cf. अमृतापिधानम. सि स्वाहा.-[वासरः]-(वस् + अर् उणा० ३।१३२) दिवसवासरौ' अमरः.-[क्षपा.]क्षप-क्षपयति चेष्टां अच्.-Night. अत्राप्युत्प्रेक्षैव, शार्दूलविक्रीडितं छन्दः.
