The Vidyasagari furnishes the following information about Anandapurņa. His Vidyaguru was a sannyási by name Svetagiri. The name of his spiritual preceptor was Abhayananda. Anandpůrna also was a sannyåsi which fact can be inferred from the epithet Bhagavat prefixed to his name. His name in the Pârváshrama i.e. as a house holder seems to have been Vidyasagara which has supplied the popular name Vidyasagarî to his commentary on Khandana, the real title of it as stated by himself in the colophon being Khandanafakkika-vibhajana.s
Again the colophon of the India office Manuscript of jafnrett runs:"इति श्रीमत्परमहंसपरिव्राजकचार्याभयानंदपूज्यपादशिष्यस्यानन्दपूर्णमुनीन्द्रस्य विद्यासागरापरनामधेयस्य कृतौ पञ्चपादिकाटीका समाप्ता ॥"
Madhusadana Sarasvatî (A. D. 1700) has quoted in his Advaitasiddhi a syollogism under the name of Vidyasagara. It is not to be found in the commentaries on Khandana and Mahávidya-vidambana. Perhaps it may have been extracted from some unknown work of Vidyasagara. As no Vidyashcara other than the author of the commentary on Khandana is kuown in Sanskrit Philosophical literature, I think the Vidyasagara mentioned by Madhusûdana Sarasvati must be the author of the Vidyasagari.
Anandapurna's date-Now as regards the date of Ánandapůrna neither of his two commentaries supplies any information. But as mentioned before, his grogatidenetaat is referred to by Nádinla (Nándilla) Gopa in his commentary on Prabodha-chandrodaya. Nândilla Gopa flourished about A. D. 1520. He was governor of Kondvidu in the reign of King Krishnaraya of Vijayanagara. There is a pillar inscription of his at Kondvidu in Guntur District dated Saka 1442 (A. D. 1520) (See Ep. Ind. Vol VI). Again the copy of his समन्वयसूत्रविवृति (at the Government College, Benares) is said to bear the date of its transcription Samvat 1461 (i. e. A. D. 1405). (see F. E. Hall's Bibliography p. 96 and 204). From these circumstances, Anand. purna seems to have flourished somewhere between A. D. 1252 and 1400. However I have found one circumstance which will help us to assign some
