Communication & Computer As we know human being has three basic needs. Food, Clothing and Shelter. But at this starting of twenty first century we can easily add one more need to the list of basic needs. It is communication. Can you imagine that you are alone in an island with all other facilities excepting communications? Yes! It is really tough to imagine even. Communication is an inevitable part of our life now.
anywhere and reading the letters in it. And this most efficient service costs a maximum of Rs. 2 only for sending or receiving single message. Just imagine you are sending a message to your friend at London at cost of Rs. 2 with the help of this cheapest and fastest mailing service. Another service available on Internet is Chat. Although people misuse it for gossiping but it is really another useful way of communication. In chat there is a concept of room. Like in a room we can talk to any person as well as hear anyone present in that room talking. In chat room also we can send some words and get the replies from others present in that room immediately. So it is something like talking by writing. Just think how amazing it is to talk to five persons seating in five different countries at a local telephone call charge. And now this chat service even allows you to talk to others through a microphone connected with computer. All these are the means of communicating people directly. But communication is something more. It is sharing thoughts, ideas or touching ones heart. That is why medias are so important these days. Print media deals with printing matters like some text or images. We can see the print media applications in books, magazines, brochures, hording and write-ups and elsewhere. AudioVisual media deals with audio or visual or a combination of both. Like Radio and TV programmes, cassettes, films are audio-visual applications. All these media based applications touche our mind more effectively. And computer is an essential part of making of these applications. Now another media is entering our life. 'On-screen media', we can say it multimedia also. Here elements or applications are produced in computer and demonstrated in computer. Presentations, Slide shows, Animations, Movies, Sounds are the elements of this media. The most important feature of this media is interactivity. In real world most of the things are interactive, living things react whenever some action takes place and even a push button comes to depressed status while pressing it. This way onscreen media lets you feel the real world experience with its interactive nature. Industries and organisations are using it for training employees, campaigning for its' newer products or displaying important things in business meetings, Institutions are using it as assistance to the teacher, explaining lessons. And lot more. Days are coming when a man can learn a lot by seating in front of a computer communicating in an interactive manner. But how all these new technologies can help in education field? In several ways. Internet can help a teacher to gather knowledge about worldwide advancement on any topic. Web pages of star universities contain a lot of information. Teachers as well as students can get help from a research organisation or a scholar person by contacting through
The process of communication started on that very day when human being discovered how to talk. Then they discovered how to write and started communicating with others by talking and writing. Probably the Post system was the first way of distant communication and gradually we have invented Telegraph, Telephone, Fax and other tools. But we are not quite satisfied. We have a tendency to extend our abilities. Like to extend the ability of eyes we have invented television, to extend our hearing ability we have invented telephones. As a continuation of this process now we have started using computers in communication. Internet is the part of computer technology, which helps us to communicate with people. It is basically a network of computers like cable TV or telephone network. Here we can connect one computer to another without any real connection and this virtual network has opened a new way to communicate people. This Internet technology offers a service named E-mail. It allows sending letters to a virtual mailbox and the person to whom the letter being sent can read from any part of the world and at anytime. It is like someone is opening mailbox from
