सर्वस्मिन् जीवप्रदेशे द्वधर्धगुणहानिभाजिते प्रथमा । उपरि उत्तरहीनं गुणहानि प्रति तदर्द्धक्रमः ॥ २२८॥
228. All (i. e., the innumerable) units of one soul divided by one and a half Gunaháni (give) the first (Var. gana of the first Spardhaka of the first Gunahání). Then the common difference being subtracted (at each step we get the succeeding Varganás). Each Gunaháni is successively half of its immediately preceding one.
फड्डयसंखाहि गुणं जहएणवग्गं तु तत्थ तत्थादी। बिदियादिवग्गणाणं वग्गा अविभागअहियकमा ॥ २२६ ॥ स्पर्धकसंख्याभिः गुणो जघन्यवर्गस्तु तत्र तत्रादिः। द्वितीयादिवर्गणानां वर्गा अविभागाधिकक्रमाः॥ २२६ ।।
229. The number of the Spardhakas (of a Gunáhání) multiplied by the minimum (Varga) is the first Vargana of that (Gunaháni).
The Vargas of the second, etc., Varganas are increased successively by one indivisible unit of a degree of increase (Avibhága Pratichchheda), (being added to the Varga immediately preceding).
Commentary. All vibratory places = an innumerable part of basic line of
universe. The minimum units of degree of increase of
force in the units of the soul - Avibhága Pratichchheda. "Innumerable times the spatial units of
