Bhagawati Aradhana is a sacred scripture written in Saurseni Prakrit language by Acharya Shivarya in 2164 gathas. This is supposed to be written in the first half of first century A.D. The work is related to the code of conduct of Jain monks. Reverend Acharya has logically proven the unsacred nature of human body. Human body is dirty like the Ghevar (a kind of sweet made up of wheat powder and filled with Ghee) made up of filth, because its cause is semen of man and raj of woman. Formation of Body in womb
Acharya Shivarya has illustrated all the stages of embryo in the womb of mother which is very much similar to that of modern medical sciences. The embryo lives in womb for nine or ten months. Womb is situated below aamashaya and above pakvashaya i.e. between both filthy areas. Embryo is covered with vasti patal i.e. a net or cover made up of flesh and blood.
The seed, mixture of mother's raj and father's semen, remains in the womb for ten days in the form of Kalala. For next ten days it remains in the form of blackness and after that it gets stable for another ten days. After this it remains in the form of bubble for a month. Then it gets density (solidity) for another month. After that it develops in the form of flesh (muscle). In the fifth month, five sprouts appear from that muscle i.e. two hands, two legs and one head. These sprouts gradually develop in the form of limbs and other subdivisions in the sixth month.
Jain books reveal the number of limbs as eight. These are -Head, two hands, two legs, stomach, back and buttock. Neck, ears, eyes, nose, fingers etc. are called upangas (sub limbs).
While reaching the seventh month, formation of skin, nails and hairs commence. On the eighth month movement is felt in the womb and on the ninth or tenth month it comes out from womb. Thus the infant gets its birth.
Acharya Shivarya reveals that the mouth of womb (uterus) i.e. vagina is the birth place of it. That place is dirty, not worthy to be seen,
