parts in the body. Human body has nine excretion points from where waste material of body always flow out. Human body has a brain which is in the size of one's own two handfuls (one anjali praman). Bone marrow (meda) and semen are also in the same quantity i.e. two handfuls.'19
About bone marrow science declares that-Bone marrow is the flexible tissue in the interior of bones. In humans, red blood cells are produced by cores of bone marrow in the heads of long bones in a process known as hematopoiesis. On average, bone marrow constitutes 4% of the total body mass of humans; in an adult weighing 65 kilograms (143 lb), bone marrow typically accounts for approximately 2.6 kilograms (5.7 lb). The hematopoietic component of bone marrow produces approximately 500 billion blood cells per day, which use the bone marrow vasculature as a conduit to the body's systemic circulation. Bone marrow is also a key component of the lymphatic system, producing the lymphocytes that support the body's immune system.20
Many more facts are shown by reverend Acharya. These are compiled as thus- There are six handfuls of fat (vasa) in the body. Bile (pitta) and phlegm (kafa) are twelve handfuls in quantity, while blood is half Aadhaka. Here one Aadhaka =sixty four Pals = sixty four Prasthas. Human body contains one Aadhaka of urine in quantity, while excreta six Prasthas in quantity. Human body has twenty nails and thirty two teeth by nature. As wounds are filled up with worms, so the body is also filled up with many clusters of worms. Five types of wind (vata) encircle the whole body.21
About diseases Acharya says that if there are ninety six diseases in only one eye, then imagine how many diseases there could be in the whole body. These diseases are caused due to misbalance of wind (vata), bile (pitta) and phlegm (kafa).22In Pandit Ashadhar's version of Bhagwati Aradhana one more gatha is present which states that there are five crore sixty eight lakh ninety nine thousand five hundred and eighty four (5,68,99,584) diseases in the body.23
