Chapter 77
BENDING THE BOW
The Tao (way) of Heaven, is it not like the bending of a bow? The top comes down and the bottom-end goes up. The extra (length) is shortened, the insufficient (width) is expanded. It is the way of Heaven to take away from those that have too much; And to give to those that have not enough. Not so with man's way. He takes away from those that have not; And gives it as tribute to those that have too much. 'Who can have enough and to spare to give to the entire world? Only the man of Tao. Therefore the Sage acts, but does not possess, Accomplishes, but lays claim to no credit, Because he has no wish to seem superior.

ক্তিস্ত্রিী অভিী।
स्वर्ग का ताओ-मार्ग, क्या वह धनुष के झुकाने जैसा नहीं है? शिनवर नीचे चला आता है और अधोभाग ऊपर उठ जाता है, अतिरिक्त (लंबाई) छोटा होता है और अपर्याप्त (चाँडाई) बढ़ जाता है। स्वर्ग का ढंग है कि वह उनसे छीन लेता है, जिनके पास अतिशय 6. और उन्हें दिए देता है जिनको पर्याप्त नहीं है। मनुष्य का ढंग यह नहीं है। वह उनसे छीन लेता है जिनके पास नहीं है, और उसे वह भेंट के रूप में उन्हें दिए देता है, जिनके पास अतिशय हैं। कौन है जिसके पास सारे संसार को देने के लिए पर्याप्त है? केवल ताओ का व्यक्ति। इसलिए संत कर्म करते हैं, लेकिन अधिकृत नहीं करते, संपन्न करते हैं, लेकिन श्रेय नहीं लेते, क्योंकि उन्हें वरिष्ठ दिनवने की कामना नहीं है।
