________________ At the celebration of UNO's 50th anniversary Mahatma Gandhi's grand daughter Ila Gandhi meets Acharya Shri Amrender Muni Ji Mahatma Gandhi's grand daughter, Ila Gandhi was extremely happy to meet Rev Acharya Shri Amrender Muni Ji. Acharya Shri Amrender Muni Ji: You are the grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi. In you I see a special radiance and capability. You must use this capability in the interests of the nation. Mahatma Gandhi had a deep understanding of Jain philosophy, In fact if I may say so - Mahatma Gandhi was a true Jain. When Mahatma Gandhi was going abroad his mother took him to Bechar Das Swami who was a Jain saint and whatever injunctions he gave Mahatma Gandhi he followed to the letter. Mahatma Gandhi was a man of unshakeable determination and a self actualised human being. In Jain sadhana a lot of importance is given to fasting. By fasting not only the body, but the soul too gets purified. In testing times, Gandhi Ji took the help of fasting to achieve his ends. In fact Mahatma Gandhi practically applied the principles of Jain philosophy as outlined by Lord Mahavir. On the basis of Lord Mahavir's principle of non violence he was able to secure independence for India. Gandhi Ji said we must counter violence with non violence and untruth with truth.
