________________ Sushil Kumar Ji had asked Amrender Muni Ji to keep 2 statues and some books to present to Mikhail Gorbachev. Amrender Muni Ji was worried and told Sushil Kumar Ji that they might not be able to take those things inside. Sushil Muni Ji just said- let us see what happens. Surprisingly, the security guards saw the bag, but did not say anything and Amrender Muni Ji was allowed inside with his bag! In 1991 Sushil Kumar Ji travelled to Iran in an attempt to persuade Saddam Hussein to adopt a peaceful resolution to the Gulf Crisis. Although poor roads and the prevailing war conditions prevented him from entering Iraq, he was widely appreciated for his valiant efforts to stop the Gulf war. By dint of his efforts Sushil Kumar Ji was able to get“ World Religion” status for Jainism in the United Nations. Jainism is now recognized as the 12th world religion by UNO. In January 1992, the International Mahavir Jain Mission (IMJM) became affiliated with the United Nations Organisation as a Non Governmental Organisation. Furthermore, the United Nations adopted the concept of ahinsa for the first time in history at the Sacred Earth Summit in order to protect all forms of life existing in the world today. In June 1992, Sushil Kumar Ji addressed the Global Earth Gathering and the Earth Summit, the largest ever international conference held by the United Nations which took place at the Rio centre in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The World Movement of Nonviolence for Peace and Environment was launched in Rio with Sushil Kumar Ji serving as the founder and president and Dr. Robert Muller as its co president In 1993 Sushil Kumar Ji was also invited to participate in the Global Forum in Kyoto, Japan, where the International Green Cross was launched with the support of more than 700 delegates from 88 countries. Here he met Mikhail Gorbachev for the second time.
