________________ We are Jaini's and our religion Jain, Let only this be our identity, We are guided by these main principles, So let all differences be resolved". Non violence is the foundation of World Peace & Violence is one of the Causes of Earthquakes: All the principles of living advocated by Bhagwan Mahavir are important, but in the present time, ahinsa, anekant (multiplicity of viewpoints and aparigraha (non attachment) are vital. The absence of violence is non violence. Non violence is the soul of Indian culture and is ever new, ever relevant. The proof of becoming a “gyani” or wise person is that one avoids violence. The killing of any living thing is like killing oneself and compassion towards a living being is compassion towards one's very own self. One should not hurt a living thing by thought word or action. Earth, water, air and fire, vegetation and trees and plants are all living things...they are all alive. To hurt them in any way is cruel. Nowadays the earth's resources are being destroyed at a fast pace, just to satisfy man's desires. The sad result of this is an increase in pollution of the environment and instability in nature. Earthquakes and cyclones which have occurred with increasing frequency in many countries are the result of exploitation of the environment and steadily increasing violence. Experts have certified to this after conducting much research on the subject. It is only the teachings of Lord Mahavir which will act as a shield to protect us from the effects of violence and the ravages done to nature. In this context I would like to specifically outline the causes that lead to an increase in earthquakes, cyclones and storms.
