RUDRAKSH MALA- INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. On Sunday soak the Rudraksh mala overnight in milk.
2. On Monday, wash the mala with water. Then keep it in a tray. Light incense sticks (2) and holding the lighted incense sticks in your right hand, trace circles in front of the mala, as if worshipping it. Let the mala dry.
3. When dry, hold the mala in your right hand, between the second and third finger, starting from the 1st bead and do 21 or 108 repetitions of " Om Namah Shivayeh". This purifies the Rudraksh mala.
4. Now you can do any mantra on this mala.
5. After one or two or three months, soak the mala overnight in Mustard oil. The next day hang it up somewhere with a vessel underneath. The oil will drip into the vessel. After that wash it with yoghurt, then milk and then water. Then you can dry it and use it. This procedure prolongs the life of the mala.

6. When chanting the mantra on the mala one should do it in private so that no ones gaze falls on the mala. If people are present, cover the mala and chant.
7. Keep the mala safely in a pouch so that no one touches it.
