________________ My Experience with Amrender Muni Ji Maharaj Pat Bruno, USA I met H.H. Shri Amrender Muniji Maharaj in 1983. He had come to the U.S. with my Guru H.H. Acharya Sushil Kumar Maharaji . They stayed at my home in Malden, Massachusetts while attending various functions in the Boston area. Acharya Sushil Kumar had been my Guru since 1976 . I was thrilled to have not only him but this pleasant young monk stay with my family. As a yoga teacher I hold yearly workshops for people in the New England area. Guruji would be the honored guest at these workshops teaching about Jainism, Arhum Yoga and healing. Hundreds of people would attend the seminars he held at Universities, churches, philosophical organizations and private homes throughout the United States and Canada . Still, he would come to yoga centers and talk, chant and teach to all the teachers. When asked, he said that he had started to do yoga in India after reading about it in Jaina Sanskrit texts and realized that it held the key to good health and longevity. He also mastered the science of sound and brought the true understanding of sound vibration to all the yoga teachers who had studied traditional yoga. By 1986, Guruji had become so renowned and busy with the World Conference of Religions, the United Nations, meeting with world leaders and with people at Siddhachalam, that he had no time to come to our yoga workshops. He sent Amrender Muni in his place. When I expressed my concern that people would not attend if he personally was not present, he said, “If I am not available, Amrender Muni will come. He speaks for me as my substitute. Muniji is not only a Jain monk but an accomplished yogi as well. 247 amrender muni ji maharaj Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
