appears successively in the heart (pashyati), in the throat (madhyama), and finally from the mouth (vaikhari).
When the kundalini (concentrated pranic energy) moves upward, as it passes different centres, various sounds can be heard. This is called anahat nadam or unstruck sound. When the sushumna path is clear, the kundalini will pierce the brahmagranthi (psychic knot in the muladhar), the vishnugranthi (knot in the heart chakra) and the rudragranthi (knot in the third eye centre). Upon reaching the sahasrar, sound becomes soundless. This is the state of superconsciousness, the state where para sound is realized.
When you perceive how life force moves, how it turns into sound and how this sound emanates from its source, the root of the navel, then you will be enlightened.
As human beings our five senses are very limited. Members of the animal kingdom far surpass our powers. For exámple we can hear a bell riniging, and if we remain close to the bell after the sound has diminished, we may perceive some vibration. However long after the continuing sound is imperceptible to us it can still be heard by a mouse.
Each of the five senses can be classified into different states of perception. As humans we have not developed our subtle powers. Our awareness is so limited, we are like persons sitting in front of a television- we can see and hear the sounds on the screen, but it is impossible for our other senses to be involved in the scene. A yogi on the other hand, has awakened all his subtle senses and can perceive true reality.
Gross sound is incomplete; we must reach its source, the current of nadam. If we can approach the science of the Namokar Mantra from all four levels of sound, then the hghest result will be attained. Starting with vaikhari repetition, the mantra can awaken all our sleeping powers, bring us to the state of deep meditation, and ultimately to the realiazation of para sound.
