________________ He told his mother that he had not asked his question, but he had got 3 bags of gold coins from the farmer as a reward for finding out how to make his fields fertile. He had got a ruby from the Monk who was grateful to learn how he could attain enlightenment, and he married the dumb girl, who started talking when she met the young boy. By marrying the girl he received half the old woman's wealth and became rich! Thus the moral of the story is that when we look after the interests of others, we find that our own interests are automatically taken care of. So we see that the path to progress lies in learning to help others and dropping the desire to harm anyone. Please try to understand this. This is the essence of human life. Teach your children the right values: It is my belief that children are like unmoulded wet clay. We should give them healthy advice. If you have a disagreement with your neighbour, keep it to yourself. Don't discuss it with the children. It is the duty of the parents to bring up their children with a healthy mindset. Parents should not let them hear or use inappropriate words, tell lies or condone bad behaviour. Wherever possible one should not talk badly of others. Even if one has to say something hurtful about someone, one should use such words that a bad impression is not formed in the child's mind. In short it is very important to teach children the right values from a young age. Respected Sushil Kumar Ji used to say that you may be very proud of having given your children everything in life, but your job is incomplete if you have not given them the right values. It is a painful truth that children who are not taught the correct values sometimes end up turning on their own parents. shantidoot | messenger of Jain Education International peace 112 For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
