વિક્રમાદિત્ય ] શોધી કાઢયું અને વિદ્વાનોએ તે માન્ય રાખ્યું તેના તાંબાના સિક્કાઓ ઉપર ખેદેલા છે. એટલે સ્તન એ ચનનું જ નામ છે. અક્ષરે સ્પષ્ટ વાંચી શકાતા નથી.
ટેલેમી તેને ટીઅસ્ટનેસ તરીકે વર્ણવે પાછલા પ્રકરણમાં આપણે જોઈ ગયા કે છે. ટીઅનેસ એ યુનાની ભાષાનો શબ્દ શકલ કોએ ગઈભિલ પાસેથી ઉજજૈનનું છે, તેનું જ રૂપ ભારતીય ભાષામાં ચઇન થાય ૨ાજ્ય છીનવી લીધું હતું પણ તે લાંબે કાળ છે, એ વિદ્વાનેને મત છે.
શકલેકો નભાવી શકયા નહીં. લગભગ ચારેક - આ ચદન પ્રથમ તે સાધારણ ક્ષત્રપ વર્ષ પછી તે રાજ્ય તેમની પાસેથી ચાલ્યું હત કેટલાકના મતે તે કુશનવંશને ક્ષત્રપ ગયું. પરંતુ સૌરાષ્ટ્રની સત્તા તેમની પાસે બહુ હતું. પણ પાછળથી મહાક્ષત્રપ બન્યો અને લાંબા સમય સુધી રહી. લગભગ ચાર સો વર્ષ રાજાની ઉપાધિ પણ તેણે ધારણ કરી હતી. સુધી સોરાષ્ટ્રમાં તેઓ પ્રબળ સત્તાધીશ હતા.
તેનાં ચાંદી, તાંબાના સિકકાઓ પણ મળે ટોલેમીની ભૂગોળ ઉ૫ર ટીપ્પણ કરતાં છે તેના ઉપર બ્રાહ્મીલિપિમાં “જ્ઞો ક્ષત્રપલ મજમુદારે લખે છે કે-શકલેકો પાસેથી tણમોતિશga-]”લખ્યું છે. બીજી બાજુ રાજ્ય છીનવ્યું તે સમુદ્રગુપ્તને પુત્ર ચંદ્રગુપ્ત પછીલિપિમાં “* પ્રાં –], ઘટના” હતો અને તેણે જ શકોકો પાસેથી ઉજજેનની એટલું વાંચી શકાય છે.
ગાદી છીનવી લીધી હતી. statues discovered with the statue of Kanishka at Mat, 9 Miles north of Mathura, is 'Chastana,' K. P. Jayswal... points out that the fact that this statue was found in the game Devkula as the statue of Kanisbka justifies the view that cbashtana was a relative of Kanishka and belonged to the same family.
Early History of India, P. 233. I Ptolemy tells us that in his time ozene was the capital of Tiastanes. This name transliterates chashtana, one which is found ou coins and the cave temple inscriptions of Western India. This prince apears probably to have been the founder of the shatrapa dynasty of Western India ( 8C3 Ind. Alt. Vol. III, P. 171.)
