ANCIENT SOUTH INDIAN JAINISM.
-TT
(6) " He by whom the desired form of siddhi was with worthy - words ensured to friendly men, the Dayapala Muni...do ye with words revere" 1
: (c) “In whom equal patience rejoices, in whom kindness has no
limit, whom impartiality loves, whom absence of desire desires, through love loving salvation, though in his own esteem low, yet the head of yogis, by his character an
achari, Sri Mollishena muni-him let us revere?. ) “ The ignorant and the wise, the poor and the rich, the lowly
and the honourable, the evil and the good the sorrowing and the happy, the proud and the virtuous, "he caused to become samantabhadra lever fortunate)... ... may Sri Charukriti prosper in the world......" In order that his oron merit--the destroyer of the enemy of sin, the bestower of highest happiness, difficult to obtain and an object of desire-which he had acquired by the supreme path, highly prized by the worthy, of a sanyansi, might accůre "to all people, he poured forth the nectar of his eloquence so that they all, forsaking their bodies and praising the
feet of Jina, attained to the state of the Gods." $, . Very naturally, such great Rishis of Belgola, the great examples of the higher life, in time came to be worshipped even by kings and in time became Rajagurus, Mahamandalacharyas and Jagad-gurus. Of such Rishis, who thus worked their way to power and influence through their learning, character and other attainments there are also references in the Sravana Belgola Inscriptions. A few examples are given here under :(a) "Siddhanta yogi......whoin, though his lotus feet were ever
tinted with the rays from the crowns of bending kinge, no substance and no woman, no clothing and no youthful
pride, no strength and wealth could tempt," * (6) " After bim Hulla the minister of King Narasimha ; his guru was the Jagadguru Kukkutasana Muladhari Deva.".
. (c) “ Maghanandi Siddhanta Chakravarti, Rajaguru to the Hoysala
king." 8. (d) “Mahamandalacharya Dera Kirti Pandita Deva." ?. (e) “The moons of the nails of his feet illumined as with the hues of evening from the jewels in the crown of the Ganga
