In further continuation of my letter No. E. 71 of 1933 dated 26th May last, I have the honour to inform you that in the English Copy Right Act, the publisher is bound to provide six copies of each publication and these copies are then supplied to several libraries in the United Kingdom.
When the Indian Registration act of 1867 was passed, its main object was " that copies of every important and interesting work published should be despatched to England to be deposited in the libraries at the India Office, and it is further stated in the said preamble that,
" In the interests, too, of history and of the scholars of Europe it is undoubtedly wise to provide that a complete collection of the publications of the press of the country should be made as well as in this country as in England."
