With reference to your letter No. 2205 of 1933 dated the 24th inst. I have the honour to inform you that the Government receives under the act XXV of 1867 a copy of each book published in the British India and I understand, there is no adequate and proper arrangement for collection and preservation of these books.
The Gujarat Vernacular Society is a literary Institution founded for the growth and development of Gujarati language and literature. So the Society is naturally very anxious that steps may be taken for collection and preservation of all books published in Gujarati.
The Society possesses the best and largest collection of Gujarati books and if the Government as prayed for in my letter is pleased to help the Society by supply of these books to make its collection as complete as possible, I need not say, it will prove a blessing to students of Gujarati literature.
