In reply to your letter No. 267 of 1912-13 dated 24th October 1912, I have the honour to inform you that the Society has not framed any special and permanent rules for the award of prizes for the writing of books by translations or otherwise,
The procedure is vague in that a Sub-Committee of the Managing Committee called the BookCommittee sends up proposals for getting good and useful books prepared as translations, abridgements, adaptations or original compositions and the Managing Committee then decides upon the books to be: written; and thereupon applications are invited by advertisement from persons prepared to write such books.
