present site which is hemmed in by Government land on those sides. The land forming present S. No. 4663 admeasuring about 300 sq. yds. is preeminently suitable for the requirements of the said society. The land is leased by Government and the period of the lease is due to expire on 31st March 1930. It is a piece which is practically detached from the piece of Government land, on the south of the society's buildings, and therefore, while the grant of that land will suit the requirements and the purpose of the society, it is not at all likely to interfere with any project which Government may have in view in connection with their land on the south. Besides, the Government land on the south is extensive enough for any project they may have in contemplation and therefore the grant of the detached plot of S. No. 4663 is also not likely to cause Government any appreciable inconvenience, while compared with that the advantage to the society if the plot is granted would be iinmensely greater.
18. If that plot were granted to the society, the society proposes to extend its buildings therein so as to locate a part of its library with a hallon the site of the present S. Nos. 4724 to 4728 for scholars and re-search students to work quietly. The society also intends to extend the present public hall on the first floor over the said site of S. Nos. 4724 to 4728 and a terrace on the building to be put in plot No. 4663 which it seeks from Government. This terrace will be opening in the hall on the 1st floor thereby allowing scope for the extension of the Premabhai hall if necessary.
