Sandhi.
In Ardha-Māgadhi there is no room for the Visarga and Consonant Sandhi, for the former does not exist in it and the latter never stands alone at the end of a word. From among the Vowel Sandhi, the following are the chief types:
(1)
य+ अवि = थावि 'and also'.
(ii) + a followed by a Conjunct Consonant* = *
न + अस्थि = नस्थि 'it is not'.
(iii) म + इ = ए
महा + इसि = महेसि 'the great sage'.
*Anusvāra must be regarded as a consonant.
