cally like Jayadeva's songs as is so eminently done by P. G.Gopalkrishna Aiyar in his paper 'The Gita-GovindaA Prosodic Study published in the Journal of Oriental Research, pp.350-365, Madras 1928. In this study one can equally appreciate the literary and stylistic graces and embellishments used by Panditācārya.
9. Panditácārya's Style etc. Panditācārya has a good command over Sanskrit vocabulary, Jaina paribhasa and metrical variety. His opening Margala is quite dignified and is much popular in the retualistic recitations in Jaina temples, in Karnataka. It runs thus, and has a compact expression :
विद्याव्याप्तसमस्तवस्तुविसरो विश्वैर्गुणैर्भासुरो दिव्यश्रव्यवचःप्रतुष्टनृसुरः सद्ध्यानरत्नाकरः । यः संसारविषाब्धिपारसुतरो निर्वाणसौख्यादरः
स श्रीमान् वृषभेश्वरो जिनवरो भक्त्यादरान् पातु नः ॥ His story continues irrespective of the conclusion of a Prabandha. Further, the author has before him the excellent models of Jinasena and Jayadeva from whom he easily inherits ideas and expressions. Pandită is a skilful companion. She assures Śrīmatí with nice similes that she would do her best to see that she meets Vajrajangha (v. 1):
सुकविविमलबुद्धिः श्लिष्टमर्थं वृणोति सुनयविहितराज्यं श्रीरवाप्नोति यद्वत् । नलिनसुभगनेत्रे मेलयिष्यामि तद्वत् पतिमिह तव कन्ये मा कृथास्त्वं विषादम् ॥
