"Prabandha-Chintamani" describes Olhow King Shalivahana discovered the absence of his queen and how Nagarjuna after succeeding in the preparation of Siddha-Rasa was not able to make any use of the same, and how he met with his death. The "Prabhavaka Charitra" describes him as having accompanied Padlipta to Shatrunjaya to have a death in Samadhi by abstention from food and water. Both Nagarjuna and Padlipta died there, Ice Padlipta having ascended the second Heaven. This is in short the life story of the author of the present I work. It may be of importance to note here that there have been more than one Nagarjuna, and the present Nagarjuna need not be confounded with the Nagarjuna who started the Vajrayana amongst the Buddhists about the middle of the 2nd century A. D. PADLIPTA SURI'S OTHER WORKS. The novel Tarangavati has been already mentioned. The original is not available. Nemichandra Suri abridged the said novel under the name Tarangalola, and this is available. It has been translated in the German and Gujarati languages. The reason given by Nemichandra-Suri for abridging the original Tarangavati is that it is very extensive, complex, and full of pairs, sixes, and Kulakas (Collections) of 2 verses, and that consequently it has become a work only for the learned, the ordinary people having lost interest in it.
