two sides to enable him to walk to the opposite bank along the way thus made. He initiated 500 Tapasas (Hindu ascetics) as Jain Sadhu and started Brahmadwipika Shakha. He was also Padlipta's contemporary.
KINGS CONTEMPORARY WITH PADLIPTA.
Muranda of Patliputra was connected with Padlipta in his early life. King Vikrama of Ujjayani was also a contemporary with him, but Padlipta, personally, it is not stated to have been in any way connected with him. It was the great-grand-pupil Siddha Sena Divakara who was connected with king Vikrama. He was a pupil of Vriddhavadi a pupil of Skandilacharyra.
Skandilacharya was a pupil of Padlipta. After leaving Patliputra and coming over to Western India, Padlipta became an intimate friend of King Krishna of Manakhetapura. Shramanasinha who was Padlipta's contemporary as already mentioned was connected with King Prajapati of Vilasapura. The said Prajapati was also thus Padlipta's contemporary. King Dahada of Patliputra mentioned in connection with Devendra-annecdote seems to have been also Padlipta's contemporary. Padlipta seems to have been l connected with more then one king of Shali Vahana Dynasty, especially King Hala the famous poet and reputed author of the collection of 700 erotic verses named Gatha-Sapta-Shati. The author of RamaCharitra Abhinanda refers to Padlipta's connection with King Hala in express words.
