First of all, accept my regrets that I could not respond to your e-mails for so long a time. I had to complete some worla and send it to the type setter. Moreover, I needed time to go through your writeups. I appreciate your work and your zeal with which you have taken up the challange of solving this problem Loka. I think Jain Sangh needs people like you to address the knotty points that have emerged, regarding Scriptural data and scientific discoveries. Persons who are wellversed in science, and, on the other hand, are conversant with scriptural theories, can tackle such matters. I see 'science' as man's search for truth, which has started in remote past and now has reached to a critical. state. In a sense, science is a new Darshang; only it is based on empirical evidence. Sankhya, Nyāya etc. were based on theorising, yet we can mark some empirical observations in them. Jaina and some other traditions were an outcome of revelations, still their latter proponents relied on theorisation; yet, they also used observation of the real world and used their findings in
