________________ (41) Comments from Dr. Pankaj S. Joshi Shri Acharya Nandighoshsuriji, 7th December, 2018 The book on Jain Cosmology and Geography by 1 Acharya Nandi Ghosh Suriji is welcomed for more than one reason. On one hand, there have been claims sometimes, as quoted from Jain literature, that the Earth is flat, it is not round etc. as claimed by some Jainism experts. On the other hand it is also suggested, as highlighted by Acharyaji here that a correct understanding of the Jainism presentation of Cosmos is not available with general public at large. Acharyaji has tried to clarify these issues and others in the presentation and perspective in the present book. This is very welcome step, whether we agree or not with the views presented here and with the Jainism perspective of Cosmology in general. What is really needed is a scientific debate. I sincerely hope that this book will serve this purpose to an extent and extend my good wishes. Panakj S. Joshi Provast (Vice-Chancellor) at CHARUSET& Senior Scientist, Dept. of Astronomy and Astrophysics TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai
