(37) The other notion which is erroneously accepted by some Jain scholars is that science is incomplete, always evolving and therefore cannot to be trusted, whereas what Tirthankars have told us is the complete and ultimate truth and therefore should be believed in totality. Science is evolving- Yes, but observations, once made are correct for all times and should not be discarded; they can only be updated as more details with better precision become available. What Newton said about gravity is not wrong just because it was superseded by Einstein's Relativitysince all the machines, airplanes, cars and space-crafts are designed based on Newton's laws and work perfectly. This book proposes to resolve the disagreements between Jain model of geography and observations in a novel way, although many scholars have unsuccessfully attempted to do so before. Acharya Vijay Nandighosh Suriji first takes us through his personal journey of original Jain scriptures where he studied Jain geography. This is very illuminating and authentic because most scholars have relied on secondary references, without bothering much about what actually is written in the scriptures. He, unlike many Jains who take what is said in scriptures as the 'Truth', or others who freely make critical judgments, takes an open view and tries to re-interpret scriptures.
