212. Seeing an ascetic shivering with cold (in winter), a potom householder may approach him and say—“O long lived Shraman ! Do you suffer from the common code (sexual excitement)?" ____ "No, it is the cold, not the sexual excitement, o long lived householder ! I am unable to tolerate as I am very weak, (that is why I am shivering).” ।
(“Why don't you burn a fire ? On being asked by the householder, the ascetic replies-) “I am not allowed to burn a fire or blaze it up or ask others to do so in order to make my body even slightly warm.
213. On getting this reply the householder may burn and blaze up a fire and make the body of the ascetic a little or more warm. In such situation, using his discretion and with awareness of the codes mentioned in the scriptures, the ascetic should tell the householder that he cannot make use of the fire.
--So I say. __विवेचन-ग्रामधर्म की शंका और समाधान-इस सूत्र में किसी भावुक गृहस्थ की शंका और समाधान का प्रतिपादन है। चूर्णिकार ने एक दृष्टान्त देकर बताया है-कोई भिक्षाजीवी युवक साधु भिक्षाटन कर रहा है, उस समय शरीर पर पूरे वस्त्र न होने के कारण शीत से थर-थर काँपते देख, उसके निकट आकर ऐश्वर्य की गर्मी से युक्त, तरुण नारियों से परिवृत, शीत-स्पर्श का अनुभवी, सुगन्धित पदार्थों से शरीर को सुगन्धित बनाए हुए कोई भावुक गृहस्थ पूछने लगता है कि 'आप काँपते क्यों हैं? क्या आपको ग्रामधर्म (विषय-वासना) उत्पीड़ित कर रहा है?' इस प्रकार की शंका प्रस्तुत किये जाने पर साधु उसका अभिप्राय जान लेता है कि इस गृहपति को अपनी गलत. समझ के कारण मिथ्या शंका पैदा हो गयी है। अतः मुझे इस शंका का निवारण करना चाहिए। इस अभिप्राय से साधु उसका समाधान करता है-'सीतफासं णो खलु अहियासेत्तए' मैं सर्दी नहीं सहन कर पा रहा हूँ।
