- Sutrakrtanga, 1.11.10 છે તેમાંથી કોઈપણ એક અથવા વધુનો ઘાત કરવો તે હિંસા છે. અને સંપૂર્ણ પ્રાણોનો નાશ કરવો એટલે મૃત્યુ છે. તેનું નામ જ
जावन्ति लोए पाणा, तसा अटुषा थावश। હિંસા છે.
ते जाणमजाणं वा, न हणे, नो वि घायए।। આવી હિંસાથી બચવા માટે ઈરિયાવહી સૂત્ર'માં વિસ્તૃત રીતે
- રવૈજદ, /૨૦ ઉલ્લેખ કર્યો છે.
To all beings in the universe, સર્વજ્ઞકથિત જૈન ધનની દૃષ્ટિએ સર્વ જીવોના પ્રાણોની
moving or immobile, સુરક્ષા કરવી, તેને જીવનદાન દેવું એ જ અહિંસા છે.
do not kill them, do not hurt them, આથી જ પૂર્વાચાર્યોએ અહિંસાને નખશિખ સમજવા માટે knowingly or un-knowingly. ‘પ્રાણાતિપાત વિરમણ' શબ્દ પ્રયોજ્યો છે. પ્રાણ + અતિપાત + વિરમણ = અહિંસા એવું સમીકરણ કરવાથી અહિંસાને સમજી सव्वे जीवा वि इच्छंति, जीविएं न मरिज्जिउं। શકાય છે.
