and 9, the present tracts are contained in it. In the printed Catalogue titles of these 8 tracts are given in Sanskrit. In this introduction I have already pointed out the changes I have made in the titles of some tracts. In critically editing Arādhanáprakarana composed by Sri Abhayadevasūri, the fifth item in the Contents of this part, I have utilised another palmleaf manuscript belonging to the same Manuscript Library, it bears No. 160 and it too is a collection of many tracts. The manuscript contains this Arādhanāprakarana as item No. 11. so sign is given to the manuscript bearing No. 151 while on sign is given to the other bearing No. 160. These two manuscripts are enlisted on pages 41-51 and 60-61 respectively of the Catalogue of the Jesalmer Bhandāra, published by the L. D. Institute of Indology. For details, one may refer to this Catalogue.
Confession of faults committed on account of ignorance, atonements and penances for purification, voluntary submission to death, countless miseries one experiences in the transmigratory state, prayer to all living beings for forgiveness, importance of patient endurance of hardships, afflictions and pains etc. — all these topics are dealt with either in brief or at length in the tracts included in this part. Many tracts contained in Parts I-II urge one to refrain from doing evil acts and exhort one to do good to others and to one's own self as well. If these tracts were translated into Hindi and/or Gujarati with explanatory notes, the soul ennobling and life-enriching ancient wisdom will become available to the people, in the language they know. So, I request Jaina saints and scholars to undertake this task.
I have added an Appendix of word index to the works edited by me and published in this Jaina Agama Series. Similarly, I ardently desired to add a word-index to this work also. But I could not do so on account of my limited energy. I request scholars to forgive me for not adding word index to this work.
I have given errata at two places in the first Part. A note on the errata of the first Part, alongwith the errata of the second Part, is given after this introduction. I request the readers first to correct the text accordingly and then to read it.
