(2) EXPLANATION :
Seekers of self-experience can be classified into three broad categories: (1) Theorists who have the right scriptural knowledge about the 'Self', the 'nature of self' and the right path to liberation, but are unable to put their knowledge into action due to spiritual lethargy. (2) Ritualists are those who zealously undertake the performance of various rites and rituals but are totally unaware of the 'Self'. (3) Those rare few, who seek 'Self-realisation' by a synchronisation of right conduct and right knowledge.
શ્લોકાર્થ:
આ જગતમાં કેટલાંક મનુષ્યો (બુદ્ધિથી) તત્વને જાણે છે પણ તેનું આચરણ કરવા માટે સમર્થ નથી. કેટલાંક મનુષ્યો (ધર્મકાર્ય) કરવા માટે સમર્થ હોય છે પણ તત્વને જાણતા નથી. પરંતુ જેઓ તત્વને જાણે છે પિછાણે છે અને તેનો અમલ પણ કરી શકે છે તેવા જીવો તો કોક વિરલ (દુર્લભ) જ હોય છે. (૨)

ભાવાનુવાદ
આ શ્લોકમાં જગતના જીવોનું ત્રણ વિભાગમાં પૃથક્કરણ કર્યું છે :૧) બુધ્ધિથી જાણી શકે પણ તેને અમલમાં મૂકવામાં અસમર્થ એવો એક વર્ગ. ૨) ક્રિયા -આચરણમાં સમર્થ પરંતુ જ્ઞાનનો અભાવ હોય.
૩) જાણીને તેનું આચરણ કરવામાં એટલે કે બંનેમાં સમર્થ હોય તે.
આમ જધન્ય, મધ્યમ અને ઉત્તમ એમ ત્રણ કક્ષા (Category) પડે છે.
